A key role in delivering a world-class weather service has arisen within our organisation. To address the increasing frequency and severity of severe weather events, we are seeking an individual to join our team as a Flood Data And System Analyst.

Operating with a national capability, this position will contribute to the establishment of a centre of scientific expertise and practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing data analysis and system support services, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely flood predictions and warnings.

This role is part of our Environmental Prediction Services (EPS) program, which is responsible for national monitoring, analysis and reporting of hazardous conditions. During severe weather events, EPS deploys into operations under the direction of National Production Services (NPS) to deliver specialised, hazard-based advice, warning and outlook services.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional who can work effectively in a collaborative environment. The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to think critically.

  • Proven experience in data analysis and system support services;
  • Strong knowledge of flood prediction and warning systems;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Degree in a relevant field such as hydrology, meteorology or computer science.

Please note that this is a non-ongoing appointment and will be for a specified period. The position is based in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney or Canberra and may involve travel throughout Australia.
