At DNEG Animation, we're looking for talented Character TDs to join our Sydney team. A key player in the animation industry, we rely on experienced professionals to create high-end animated content.

Job Description

Our team of experts is responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining character motion and deformation setups. Working closely with Modeling, Rigging Supervisors, and Animation Leads/Supervisors, you'll help develop new techniques to create better and more efficient rigs to streamline production.

You'll also be responsible for implementing proprietary tools to aid in the creation of animation rigs. With your extensive knowledge of character specialization and scripting skills, you'll anticipate and communicate pipeline issues and ensure adherence to the Animation production pipeline protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain complex character rigs
  • Collaborate with Animation teams to develop intuitive motion systems and character deformation
  • Implement proprietary tools and scripts to enhance rig efficiency
  • Ensure pipeline adherence and communicate potential issues

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Proven experience with major character or creature projects
  • Thorough knowledge of your area of character specialization (body anatomy, facial expressions, object-oriented scripting, tool management)
  • Experience collaborating with Animation teams to develop intuitive motion systems and character deformation
  • Full working knowledge of Maya with scripting skills using Python or Mel
  • Strong visual and artistic skills, comfortable with the technical aspects of character/creature work where appropriate
