Job Title: Lead Modeller

Framestore is seeking an experienced Lead Modeller to join our team. As a key member of our modelling department, you will be responsible for leading a team of artists on high-end visual effects projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of modellers and ensure the production of high-quality models that meet the specific requirements of the VFX pipeline.
  • Manage and assign tasks to team members, ensuring that deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained.
  • Collaborate with creative departments to produce models that meet the specific requirements of the project.
  • Develop and maintain workflow templates and documentation to ensure efficiency and consistency.
  • Ensure that department tools are available and properly set up for the project.
  • Act as the key contact for production and supervisors, ensuring clear communication and addressing any creative challenges or delays.
  • Maintain a good relationship with all other departments and address any issues promptly.
  • Train and mentor junior team members, ensuring their progression and growth.
  • Provide regular feedback to team members and ensure quality control for the work produced.
  • Attend dailies and present the work of the team, guiding artists on how to present their own work.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in high-end VFX projects in a global studio.
  • Strong knowledge of Maya and polygonal subdivision modelling skills.
  • Creative, resourceful, and with strong spatial awareness.
  • Ability to interpret and follow reference material to create clean, highly detailed, and accurate models.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to organise own workflow in a meticulous manner.
Desirable Skills:
  • Ability to script in Python.
  • Cross-department skills, such as texture and lighting.
