Consultant Anaesthetist

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced anaesthetist to join our team at Mackay Base Hospital.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical services, including education of medical staff and students, Allied Health, interested community groups and nursing staff.

They will also be required to perform after hours and weekend clinical duties as rostered.

Additionally, the department provides anaesthesia for various procedures, including orthopaedic, trauma, general, gynaecological, obstetric, paediatric, ENT, dental, ECT and endoscopic procedures.

Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent.

The Medical Board of Australia implemented a new expedited pathway to specialist registration in 2024, eliminating the need for a specialist assessment with a specialist medical college for those with an accepted qualification in Anaesthetics.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Registration as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Fellowship of the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent
