Job Description

The Local Law Enforcement Officer plays a vital role in maintaining the community's quality of life.

This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations through regular patrols and monitoring activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and patrolling streets, parks, and other areas to ensure compliance with Domestic Animals Act
  • Receiving, investigating, and issuing court proceedings for alleged breaches of the Domestic Animals Act
  • Assisting with administration, enforcement, and supervision of Council's Local Laws Permit program
  • Conducting specific inspections pertaining to Fire hazards and preparing and issuing Compliance or Infringement Notices and/or court proceedings for alleged breaches
  • Monitoring and patrolling all streets in the municipality to ensure compliance with Road Safety (Road Rules) Regulations and related Local Laws
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, applicants must possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • A demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and actively participate as a valued team member
  • Certificate IV in Animal Management or equivalent, or demonstrated knowledge and skills gained through on-the-job training in a customer service role
  • Animal handling experience
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to influence others to achieve positive outcomes
  • Ongoing availability to work a programmed roster covering a spread of service 6am-9pm, regular weekend work, and overtime
