Australia's energy landscape is undergoing a significant transformation. The demand for renewable energy sources is increasing, and the role of a Senior Engineer plays a vital part in this transition.

About the Role

The System Design division is responsible for planning the power system amidst unprecedented changes. This includes the rapid adoption of renewable energy generation and electrification of various sectors.

The Onboarding and Connections Group manages AEMO's end-to-end process for connecting generators into the National Electricity Market.

  • Lead Renewable Project Commissioning: Develop long-term relationships with key energy industry players while providing training and mentoring to junior team members.
  • R2 Model Validation: Carry out R2 model validation and drive the close-out.
  • Technical Collaboration: Strengthen AEMO's technical collaboration with clients by ensuring individual project issues are constructively resolved, focusing on tangible outcomes.
  • Expert Technical Advice: Provide expert technical advice and decision-making across performance standard assessment, power system stability, system strength remediation, registration, and commissioning.
  • Regulatory Support: Support regulatory changes to recognise and facilitate the integration of large-scale renewable energy projects into the Australian electricity market.
  • Technology Integration: Develop a coordinated vision and framework for the integration of various generation and storage technologies into the National Electricity Market.
