Regional Workers Comp Manager Job Description

At our organisation, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Workers Comp Manager to join our leadership team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management, direction, coordination and performance of the NSW/VIC/ACT workers compensation and injury management team for all divisions and business units.

  • Work with the Group Manager Workers Compensation and Injury Management to deliver year-on-year improvement in group workers compensation and injury management key performance indicators.
  • Develop, implement and maintain state based Accredited Return to Work and Injury Management Programs, Manuals and claims procedures.
  • Provide leadership, vision, workers compensation and injury management specialist and managerial support across the region to minimise premium and claims costs, improve customer satisfaction and improve return to work outcomes.
  • Monitor and control all claims activities within state legislation, including acts of parliament, regulations, policy, procedures, and licence conditions.
  • Provide proactive and efficient guidance to business units and sites regarding workers compensation claims, issues, strategies and financial implications.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years in a workers compensation role, experience as a self-insurer, experience in relationship building of both internal clients and external stakeholders, ability to use strong interpersonal and persuasive skills at multiple levels within a commercial environment, extensive experience in liaising with regulators, ability to think strategically and then translate into implementation programs, experience managing teams and working in large complex organisations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant experience and skills within self-insurance and the workers compensation industry.
  • Tertiary qualifications in either health or business are desirable.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.

  • Project management.
