About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team at Australian Rail Track Corporation. As a key member of our Safety & Systems team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of our rail assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a trusted business partner for the safety and systems business unit, offering oversight and support on operational environmental matters.
  • Ensure effective implementation of our environmental management system.
  • Provide advice on best practice environmental management and compliance during the delivery of rail infrastructure projects and operational work/activities.
  • Review and provide advice on fit for purpose environmental assessments and license/permit expectations.
  • Assist with environmental inspections, training, incident/event investigation and compliance tracking/reporting.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Proven ability to build relationships with external parties such as regulators and drive performance improvement with outsourced delivery partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and deliver programs to reduce environmental impact (primarily waste and emissions).
  • Experience and demonstrated ability in the implementation of environmental management systems and assessment processes.
  • High level knowledge of emerging trends, key benchmarks, statutory and regulatory requirements to inform best practice and value management outcomes.
  • Ability to travel intrastate and interstate (class C driving licence required).
