About the Role
The Department of Education, Western Australia is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Head of Learning Area (HOLA) – Health and Physical Education to provide exemplary curriculum and whole school leadership to maximise student outcomes.
The successful applicant will ideally have a proven ability to provide purposeful and focused high quality leadership in teaching and learning as well as change management practices that build the capacity of the HPE team.
The HOLA provides high quality leadership to staff within the Health and Physical Education learning area to develop innovative curriculum and practice to achieve strong student outcomes and is accountable for the effective management of the learning area.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide educational leadership in the school and the community by assisting the principal and members of the administrative team in developing and promoting the school vision and encouraging staff and community members to share ownership of the school's vision and goals.
- Facilitate teaching and learning outcomes through effective performance management, modelling, and promoting a culture of improvement and manage the school buses.
- Manage staff, physical and financial resources.
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
- Demonstrated professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students, (e.g., Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
