This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires individuals who are passionate about emergency response and community service. As an auxiliary firefighter, you will be part of a team that responds to fire and other emergencies, promoting community safety and emergency preparedness.
You will be responsible for attending incidents and emergencies, operating specialist firefighting and rescue equipment, and contributing to incident reporting and general station administration.
This role offers opportunities for personal and professional growth, with regular drills and training sessions to develop your skills and competencies. You will also have the chance to participate in community education activities and promote a positive team approach in all work activities.
To succeed in this role, you will need to possess strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to respond flexibly to change and prioritize tasks effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Attend incidents and emergencies
- Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment
- Contribute to incident reporting and general station administration
- Participate in community education activities
- Promote a positive team approach in all work activities
To be considered for this role, you must have a manual C Class driver's license and live or work within a reasonable distance of the auxiliary fire station. You will also need to obtain an MRV license at your own expense within 12 months of employment.
In addition, you must commit to attending 75% of regular drill and training sessions, participating in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs, and complying with QFES policies and procedures.
