Job Overview:

The University of Sydney's School of Architecture, Design and Planning is seeking a highly skilled Thermal Comfort Analyst and Web Developer to support the execution of various research activities. This role involves working closely with Dr. Federico Tartarini on his innovative research project "Beat the Heat: Advancing Our Understanding of Heat Stress and Developing Effective Sustainable Interventions to Reduce Health Risks in a Warming World."

You will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining digital tools that serve the global research community. Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking comprehensive data analysis for high-impact research publications, including contributions to international reports such as the Lancet Countdown
  • Leading web application development and enhancement for research tools including HeatWatch, Sports and Medicine Australia Extreme Heat Tool, and CBE thermal comfort tool
  • Maintaining and developing digital tools such as pythermalcomfort and creating new versions of thermal comfort and heat/cold stress indices calculation tools
  • Assisting in the preparation of research reports, technical documentation, and scientific publications
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary research teams and external partners
  • Ensuring research outputs meet rigorous academic and technical standards
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of research-focused applications and statistical analysis tools
  • Proven experience with coding, data visualization, and database management
  • Experience working in a research-intensive environment or similar analytical setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
