Job Overview

The Farm Manager oversees crop target outcomes, ensuring quality standards are met within allocated parameters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimize production by managing climate and crop inputs
  • Identify pest and disease issues, assign corrective actions according to established protocols and policies
  • Communicate pest and disease issues to team members
  • Conduct regular plant quality checks and collaborate with site personnel and management
  • Manage and report planting progress and health

Safety Management:

  • Undertake risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies for workplace safety
  • Report incidents, accidents, and near misses to supervisors as required
  • Provide safety instructions to employees as needed
  • Promote a safe work environment, lead by example
  • Participate in WHS committee meetings, investigation/resolution of reported incidents

Operational Oversight:

  • Contribute to the development of operational plans and targets
  • Manage site operations to achieve desired outcomes
  • Assist in weekly production forecasting for all crops on site

Team Performance and Development:

  • Lead the site team to deliver required results
  • Manage performance as necessary
  • Support the development of a positive workplace culture
  • Participate in management discussions as part of the broader management team
  • Collaborate with management to achieve labor budget goals

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience in horticulture
  • Current forklift license
  • Current driver's license
  • Bachelor's degree in horticulture, science, or related field
  • Ability to comply with established policies and procedures
  • Ability to work in accordance with organizational values

Significant experience with protected cropping, climate, and fertigation management using Priva control system or similar, Chem Aust Accreditation highly regarded.
