National Clinical Coding Audit Coordinator Job Description

Our organisation is seeking a skilled professional to coordinate audit team responses to insurer onsite and remote audits, ensuring coding accuracy and compliance.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will lead coding teams with integrity, utilising clinical coding expertise to align audit work programs with internal coding audit initiatives. They will provide guidance to various workgroups on coding audit matters and establish positive working relationships with HIM teams, hospital coders, and insurer audit teams.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead coding teams with integrity, focusing on coding accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate audit team responses to insurer onsite and remote audits, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Align audit work programs with internal coding audit initiatives, driving improvements in coding accuracy.
  • Provide guidance to workgroups on coding audit matters, promoting consistent application of coding standards.
  • Establish positive working relationships with HIM teams, hospital coders, and insurer audit teams, fostering collaboration and open communication.

Requirements:

  • National Police Check conducted within the previous 12 months.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience leading coding teams with integrity and a commitment to coding accuracy.
  • Excellent working knowledge of clinical coding using ICD-AM/ACHI and ACS, as well as understanding of how coding data underpins DRG classification.
  • Certificate IV in Clinical Classification, Associate Diploma or Bachelor of Applied Science, Medical Record Administration, or Health Information Management, or equivalent.
  • Certificate in External Clinical Coding Auditing (desirable) or relevant experience.
  • Computer literacy with significant experience using patient administration software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to articulate audit results, build trust, and foster collaboration.
