Senior Sourcing Manager Job Description

Overview of Role

This is a challenging position in the sourcing department that requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking and effective negotiation abilities.

As Senior Sourcing Manager, you will oversee the development and execution of category plans for food categories within our organisation. Working closely with various stakeholders, you will lead sourcing initiatives from Sydney and drive cost reductions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Category Leadership: Develop and execute 3–5 year category plans aligned with our sourcing strategy.
  • Market Expertise: Analyse industry trends, risks, and opportunities to drive category strategies.
  • Supplier Management: Build strong supplier partnerships, lead negotiations, and oversee supplier performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Culinary, Supply Chain, Quality) to deliver business outcomes.
  • Cost Optimisation: Drive cost reductions, manage category spend, and implement long-term savings strategies.
  • Compliance & Sustainability: Ensure regulatory and sustainability requirements are met, while enhancing packaging, quality, and customer experience.
  • Innovation & Growth: Scout, onboard, and commercialise new suppliers and products to support growth objectives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Tertiary qualified in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, and/or Business Administration. 5-7 years' experience in procurement or sourcing, ideally within Manufacturing, Retail, or FMCG.

Proven expertise in food ingredient procurement (Dry Goods, Grocery, Food Service). Strong negotiation skills and ability to 'read' the market. Sound understanding of Commercial and Contract Law. Familiarity with supplier management tools.
