About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Design Director, Highways to join our Transport Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and managing complex highway design projects from concept to completion.

As a Design Director, Highways, you will possess a strong background in highway design principles, standards, and best practices. You will have excellent knowledge of project management, business management systems, and financial systems. Your experience in leading and mentoring a team of professionals to deliver exceptional service will be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and designers in the development of highways design projects.
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Review and approve design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Coordinate with other internal teams and external contractors to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Identify and mitigate risks throughout the design process.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and meeting and exceeding delivery requirements.
  • Experience leading and mentoring a team of professionals to deliver exceptional service.
  • Excellent knowledge of project management, business management systems, and financial systems.
  • Strong client engagement and business development experience would be advantageous.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Highways Design Manager or similar role, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in highway design.
  • In-depth knowledge of highway design principles, standards, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software and tools.
