Australian National Security Innovator

This is a three-month immersive role in Canberra with the Australian Security Accelerator Program, leading to a permanent position focused on national security innovation. As an Australian National Security Innovator, you will participate in a cohort-based program addressing real engineering challenges for government partners in defence, intelligence, and national resilience sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work on priority national security projects, contributing to systems engineering efforts in architecture design, mission assurance, digital engineering, and technology integration.
- Apply model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and related approaches to design and evaluate systems supporting Australia's defence, intelligence, and whole-of-government security initiatives.
- Support sponsor engagement activities, collaborating with technical teams, program managers, and operational users to ensure alignment with mission objectives and stakeholder needs.
- Build systems engineering artifacts such as architecture models, interface definitions, requirements traceability matrices, risk assessments, and decision analysis products.
- Gain practical exposure to systems engineering tools and frameworks, including Sys ML, Magic Draw/Cameo, and digital engineering environments.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Early to mid-career experience, including recent graduates with strong academic foundations or those with several years of relevant professional experience.
- Working knowledge of systems engineering concepts such as requirements analysis, architecture development, lifecycle planning, and system validation.
- Exposure to or familiarity with MBSE tools and techniques.
- Strong critical thinking and structured problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Government NV2 security clearance.
