Procurement Strategist

The Victorian Government seeks a skilled Procurement Strategist to oversee procurement and contract management activities.

About the Opportunity

This full-time role is responsible for ensuring effective procurement practices that align with organisational goals and comply with government policies.

  • Provide commercial and procurement advice to stakeholders, focusing on mitigating risks.
  • Lead and manage procurement practices across the organisation, ensuring high-quality services for goods and services.
  • Facilitate tender processes, provide expertise regarding procurement policies and laws.
  • Ensure procurement, exemptions, and contracts all comply with government guidelines.
  • Provide procurement and contract reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the completion of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to procurement.
Required Skills and Qualifications

We are seeking an individual with demonstrable expertise in end-to-end procurement practices, strong written and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to partner collaboratively.

  • Completion of a relevant degree or postgraduate diploma (e.g. in business or commerce) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Significant experience in leading and managing end-to-end procurement processes, including contract negotiation and supplier management.
  • Strong understanding of government purchasing and contract management policies and practices, procurement governance frameworks, and risk management practices.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement efficient and effective procurement strategies and processes that support purchasing operations and align with organisational goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support and mentor colleagues and foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
  • Ability to prepare high-quality, timely reports and briefings, which provide comprehensive insights into procurement activities, aiding in decision-making and strategic planning.
