About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Community Engagement Specialist to join our team at Defence Member and Family Support (DMFS) Melbourne. As a key member of our dynamic team, you will play a vital role in helping Defence families connect and engage with their wider community.

**Salary:** $76,277 - $83,274 + up to 15.4% Superannuation

Job Description

The Community Engagement Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Engaging with Defence families, stakeholders, and the local community to build strong relationships and promote DMFS programs and events;
  • Organising and facilitating social functions to foster networking among Defence families and the wider community;
  • Using innovative approaches to promote and deliver DMFS services, leveraging technology and creative ideas to reach a broader audience;
  • Providing information and advice about local community resources and services, ensuring Defence families have access to the support they need;
  • Participating in Command and Unit facilitated events and functions for families, enhancing collaboration and communication between DMFS and other stakeholders;
  • Building knowledge of community services and engaging with service providers to stay informed about the needs of Defence families;
  • Working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve shared goals and objectives.
About Our Team

Defence Member and Family Support Branch (DMFS), Directorate of Regional Engagement offers a comprehensive range of programs and services designed to support Australian Defence Force members and their families throughout the military lifestyle. By fostering self-reliance and promoting community engagement, we strive to create a supportive environment that enhances the well-being of Defence families.

The Victoria/Tasmania team consists of experienced professionals dedicated to delivering high-quality support services. As a valued member of this team, you will contribute to our mission by providing exceptional community engagement and support to Defence families.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with Defence families, stakeholders, and community groups;
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the capacity to coordinate multiple tasks and events simultaneously;
  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions;
  • A deep understanding of the needs of Defence families and the ability to provide tailored support and guidance;
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritising tasks and managing competing demands.
