Almond Variety Physiological Study

This project aims to investigate the physiological response of almond varieties to orchard management practices. The study will determine if varietal-specific management can reduce the risk of leafing failure.
The outcomes of this project will be supported by plant physiological measurements, including carbohydrate levels as an indicator of plant function. These measurements will contribute to the identification of contributing factors to leafing failure and advise on approaches to mitigate this response for a number of varieties, including Monterey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine the physiological response of almond varieties to different orchard management practices
- Conduct plant physiological measurements, including carbohydrate levels
- Analyse data to identify contributing factors to leafing failure
- Develop approaches to mitigate leafing failure in almond varieties
Requirements:
- A relevant masters or honours degree in agricultural science, environmental science, plant physiology, or horticulture
- Equivalent research or work experience in a related field
