General Manager, Basin Plan Strategy And Integration

About The Role:

This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a significant water reform project that aims to respond to the impacts of climate change, support community and industry needs, and improve access to water for First Nations people.

The Murray-Darling Basin Authority is seeking a General Manager to lead the development of the strategy and integration of all policy elements for the Basin Plan Review program with colleagues across the agency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Development of Key Documents: Develop key Basin Plan Review documents, including early insights paper, discussion paper, and final report in consultation with the Authority.
  • Intergovernmental Engagement Strategy: Develop an intergovernmental engagement strategy and coordinate the implementation of the intergovernmental workplan.
  • Regulatory Design Theme: Lead the regulatory design theme for Basin Plan Review, including canvassing options, discussing issues with state colleagues, and suggesting improvements to simplify the Basin Plan.
  • Community Engagement: Conduct engagement with Basin communities and stakeholders.
  • Program Delivery: Engage and collaborate with other parts of the MDBA, other APS agencies, Basin governments, the community, and other external stakeholders to deliver the program objectives.
  • Leadership: Enhance and build the good reputation of the agency through representation at public and professional forums. Contribute substantially as part of the Agency's leadership team.
  • Relationship Building: Foster key relationships in a complex operating environment through a high standard of professional and personal integrity to build confidence as a reliable and trusted expert.
  • Resource Planning: Plan and manage allocated resources and lead the development of all staff in the program.
  • Culture Development: Promote workplace practices consistent with the APS Values, model high-quality leadership and management practices, and create a dynamic, flexible, and collegiate workplace culture.
