We are seeking skilled professionals to fill a Community Mental Health Practitioner role in Townsville.

As a Community Mental Health Practitioner, you will provide intensive person-centred support to help young people work towards their wellbeing goals and develop independent living skills, daily routines, confidence to live safely in the community and strengthen social connections.

This role requires flexibility to work varied shifts, including night shifts, weekdays, weekends, and sleepovers.

About This Role
  • Job Summary:
  • Deliver intensive person-centred support to help young people achieve their wellbeing goals.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Support young people to return to their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
  2. Purposefully engage with young people using techniques including brief intervention, motivational interviewing, coaching, family inclusive practice, trauma informed practice and conflict resolution.
  3. Plan and deliver group programs that aid young people to build their skills and focus on recovery.
  4. Collaborate with services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated response to people's recovery goals.
  5. Contribute to service operations by undertaking housekeeping duties.
Requirements
  1. Tertiary qualifications (Certificate IV) in Youth Work, Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work or other health-related field.
  2. Expertise in working with young people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  3. Proven capability to implement therapeutic frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma informed care and family inclusive practice.
  4. Hold a current First Aid and CPR certificate.
  5. Ability to work with vaccine preventable diseases and hold necessary vaccinations.
