About the Role

The Rail Infrastructure Manager is a critical position within ClearCompany, responsible for the management and maintenance of our rail infrastructure. This includes overseeing major capital upgrades, ensuring compliance with rail technical procedures, and executing the annual rail maintenance program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Management: Develop, coordinate, and govern the annual Rail upgrade and maintenance program for ClearCompany.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical support and guidance to operational managers and teams, and assist with all rail-related activities in the business, including review of safety interface agreements and preparation for site regulator audits.
  • Contractor Management: Liaise with and manage contractors, as well as administer contracts, manage changes, and process invoices.
  • Procurement: Prepare Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents, source quotations, review prices and justifications, and award works.
  • Inspections and Maintenance: Coordinate annual detailed inspections and patrol inspections by third-party providers, and review resulting reports.
  • Capital Projects: Coordinate minor and major maintenance works, including preparation of scope and specification documentation, and cost estimates for capital expenditure requests.
  • Capital Budgeting: Submit proposals for capital funding as part of the capital budgeting process.
  • Project Management: Enable successful project management execution and delivery of rail maintenance and other capital projects to meet customer requirements and deliver business benefits.
  • Performance Improvement: Continuously look to improve rail maintenance performance and results.
Requirements
  • Rail Experience: A solid understanding of rail freight operations, experience dealing with the Rail Regulator, and knowledge of basic rail design and standards.
  • Rail Accreditations: Rail accreditations and rail safety inductions preferred.
  • Qualifications: Qualifications in mechanical or structural engineering or a similar field.
  • Contractor Management: Contractor management experience.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the heavy industry resources/construction industry.
  • Safety and Project Management: Exposure to relevant safety and project management legislation standards and methodologies.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with MS Office suite.
  • Personal Qualities: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage competing deadlines.
