The Opportunity:
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for planning and sequencing construction activities, tracking costs, managing subcontractors, and interfacing with design management and construction delivery teams.
This role will be based in our Business Park located in Badgerys Creek, offering a great opportunity to work close to home.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to a safe work culture and ensure works are delivered to legislative and project standards
- Review and understand construction drawings, specifications, and method statements
- Identify project challenges and drive the development and implementation of solutions
- Liaise, communicate, and plan with the foreman and subcontractors on a daily basis to achieve target outcomes
- Ensure project delivery is compliant with project standards
- Ensure works are delivered to quality standards and complete all relevant documentation
- Participate in and maintain cost management of daily activities
- Prepare documentation for procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
- Assist in the preparation of daily meetings, weekly reports, 3-week lookahead programs, etc.
- Monitor the progress and quality of works by conducting inspections, taking photos, and reporting back to the Senior Project Engineer as necessary
- Ensure allocated work packages and resources are managed to ensure costs are within or below budget, and contribute to the achievement of project targets
- Assist in the procurement of major packages, materials, and resources
- Ensure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery
- Develop and monitor implementation of construction methods, including audits
- Maintains and monitors the progress of work and advises the Senior Project Engineer of significant changes and proposed remedial action
- Manages cost control for certain aspects of the project to ensure the project meets its performance targets in relation to budget/forecast
- Manage and maintain effective liaison and communication with all levels of internal and external shareholders on all matters relating to the construction activities
- Lead, motivate, and mentor site personnel to foster positive team dynamics, staff morale, and work outcomes
- Works closely and ensures Site Engineers are supported and performing as required
- Establishes and maintains close relationships with Site Supervisor(s) to drive program and results
- Develop, manage, and monitor safe working systems for railways
Criteria:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (Civil, Structural) or Project Management
- 4+ years of experience minimum within the Construction industry post-graduation
- Previous exposure to rail projects - mandatory
