Youth Focus is a for-purpose organisation that creates brighter futures for young people in Western Australia by offering a range of no-cost mental health services. Established in 1994, Youth Focus delivers innovative and accessible mental health services and programs across Western Australia to help at-risk young people aged 12 to 25.
A key component of this is our role as the lead agency for a number of headspace centres, including the dynamic and successful headspace Midland located on Whadjuk Noongar Country.
As part of this vision, we are seeking an experienced Senior Youth Access Clinician to join our team
- Permanent full-time position (1 FTE)
- Commencing ASAP
Reporting to the Clinical Lead, the Senior Youth Access Clinician, is an exciting opportunity to support young people through mental health services. This position is responsible for providing brief intervention and counselling to young people accessing our services.
Key duties of this role include:
- Conduct initial assessment of referrals to determine appropriate care pathways, severity of risk, and complexity of need
- Liaise and develop responses to the needs of young people and families who are experiencing issues associated with psychological distress ? particularly: depression, suicide, and self-harm.
- Knowledge, skills, and experience in carrying out detailed psychosocial and suicide risk assessments
- Promote headspace Midland services where appropriate and build and maintain collaborative working relationships with suitable external stakeholders.
- Administer the organisation and delivery of regular walk-in clinics at headspace Midland and co-located sites within the Midland catchment
- Provide support, guidance and supervision to students and suitable staff, when required.

About YouTo be considered for this position, applicants will have:
- Tertiary qualifications (bachelor's or higher) in psychology, social work, occupational therapy, counselling, or mental health nursing.
- Current membership or registration with an appropriate professional body.
- Knowledge, skills, and experience in carrying out detailed psychosocial and suicide risk assessments.
- Experience and competence working with vulnerable groups, including those who identify as LGBTQIA+, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, and CaLD.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in a clinical setting, with experience with outreach/co-location preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with capacity to liaise appropriately with varying audiences.
- 'C' class Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Capacity to work evenings (until 7pm Wednesday or Thursday)
