We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Manager to oversee all aspects of project controls, including estimating, cost control, and scheduling.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that project activities are carried out efficiently, aligned with budget, and monitor progress while identifying potential issues or risks.

This role involves collaborating with project managers to develop accurate cost estimates for project tasks and activities, tracking expenses, and analyzing variances between actual and projected costs.

Regular reports will be provided to project managers, and the creation and maintenance of project schedules will also be essential in identifying potential delays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of project controls
  • Develop and implement project plans and budgets
  • Monitor and report on project progress and performance
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop and track project metrics

Requirements:

  • 6-10+ years of relevant experience in a similar environment
  • Broad mining-related work experience across the entire mining lifecycle
  • Proven track record of delivering project objectives and established targets
  • Proficient in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Strong active listening and interpersonal skills for rapport building and conflict resolution
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility for own and others' health and safety
  • Embodies and exemplifies Newmont's vision and values

Desirable Criteria:

  • Prior experience leading a team in a diverse cultural environment in a mining context
  • Previous experience working on projects in remote locations and developing countries

Working Conditions:

  • Must be open to travel to PNG (Lihir)
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment medical
  • Must be able to complete a National Police Check
