About Us:
We specialize in mental health service delivery, focusing on working with adults and young people, as well as early childhood intervention.
Our mission is to make a positive impact.
About the Service:
The Medicare Mental Health Services are free and don't require an appointment, referral, or Medicare card to visit a Medicare Mental Health Centre. Our services in Tasmania provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country.
The service is tailored to the needs of the community in Tasmania and offers a combination of peer-led recovery and clinical support.
The Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress, allowing them to:
- Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department
- Access support from trained mental health professionals within their community
The Role:
The Mental Health Community Outreach Specialist seeks opportunities to reach out to people with mental health issues and the communities that support them, providing education, raising mental health literacy, and linking people to appropriate services.
You will develop, facilitate, and evaluate various community events and health and education programs designed to improve mental health literacy and community awareness of challenges faced by people with mental illness, in order to increase early identification and access to appropriate services.
You will work closely with our clinical team to understand the services provided by the Medicare Mental Health Centre, advocating our services to the wider community.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A Diploma qualification in mental health or a related field
- Experience in a similar role working with people with mental health concerns
- Experience in planning, developing, and delivering high-quality education, training, and community awareness programs and activities
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with and engage a variety of different people and stakeholders
- Proven ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively as a member of a team
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- Confidence in using IT, including social media applications, and website maintenance
- Excellent verbal communication and written skills, including the ability to identify potential funding sources and write grant submissions
- Eligibility for a Working With Children Check (WWCC) and NDIS worker screening clearance
- A current Driver's License
We're committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable people. All applicants must undergo required screening processes prior to their successful appointment.
We welcome applications from diverse backgrounds to enhance the depth of cultural diversity and insight within our workforce.
