The Trauma Informed Education Consultant will lead the delivery of trauma informed education and support to teachers, parents and caregivers working within schools and classrooms.
This position requires exceptional leadership and communication skills, as well as a strong understanding of mental health, childhood development and trauma informed principles.
About YouAs a highly motivated professional with expertise in evidence-informed mental health interventions for children, you will work closely with school staff and caregivers to build capacity towards recognising and responding to children living with and impacted by trauma.
Key Responsibilities- Provide formal professional development training (all staff)
- Provide coaching engagements and guidance
- Participate in school meetings and collaborate with teams
- Consult with school staff and caregivers on social emotional support of students
- Develop and deliver wellbeing focused capacity building opportunities for parents and carers
- Observe classrooms and coach teachers on promoting safety, regulation and social emotional competencies
- Qualifications in social work, psychology, education or creative arts therapy
- Minimum 8 years' experience working in relevant settings
- Advanced knowledge of trauma informed practices for supporting children and families
- Prior experience working with children impacted by trauma, including an understanding of childhood development and therapeutic frameworks
- Experience working in schools or allied health services
- Delivering workshops and presentations is required
- Mental health experience is essential
- Registration with a national professional body and a Working with Children Check are necessary
