At Svitzer, we are seeking an exceptional Deckhand to join our team.

About the Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out routine checks, maintenance and repairs on deck equipment and machinery. They will also handle and secure lines during towage, mooring and general vessel movements.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily inspections of deck equipment and report any faults or damage.
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning and lubricating equipment.
  • Participate in drills, training and operational improvement activities.
  • Support environmental compliance by following company procedures and marine regulations.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Provide assistance with other tasks as required by the Captain or senior crew members.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a minimum General Purpose Hand Near Coastal Certificate of Competency, a valid AMSA Medical certificate and current Provide First Aid and Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificates.
