Asset Systems Officer - Ballarat Region

Description:

This is a permanent, full-time position in the Ballarat region with a fortnightly RDO. We are seeking an experienced Asset Systems Officer to contribute to maintaining and developing the Council's Asset Management Information Systems (AMIS).

The successful candidate will ensure asset data is robust and continuously improved upon, contributing to the growth and development of the Ballarat region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining, ongoing development, and continuous improvement of AMIS, including corporate asset databases associated with implementing Council's Asset Management Policy, Strategic Asset Management Plan, and Asset Management Plans.
  • System Management and Maintenance: Providing support for the management of AMIS across all business units, ensuring systems are efficient and effective.
  • Asset Tracking and Reporting: Updating AMIS and ensuring associated capital works and maintenance requirements are available in the system to drive capital investment planning and maintenance activities.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Working with service planning and asset planning teams on their AMIS needs, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and alignment with industry best practices.
  • Data Integrity: Ensuring timely and accurate data entry to meet reporting and audit requirements.
  • AMIS integration with Geospatial Information Systems (GIS): Ensuring asset spatial information is in industry-standard formats, considering business and user needs.
  • Data Analytics: Interpreting data to inform organisational decisions and sustainable asset management choices.
  • Workflow redesign and operational reviews: Incorporating asset management within business processes to improve efficiency.
  • Interfacing with corporate systems: Exchanging or sharing data to avoid duplication of data management across customer service, maintenance, financial, GIS, and risk systems.
  • Documenting procedures and standards for AMIS, including user guides and business processes for asset planning, handover, accounting, risk management, service level performance, lifecycle cost reporting, and lifecycle optimisation.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to investigate and analyse data and system matters with high attention to detail.
  • Tertiary qualification in Asset Management, Information and Communications Technology, Geographic Information Systems, or equivalent discipline.
  • Experience with creating SQL-based scripts, ETL designs, manipulating database structures, and report creation.
  • Project delivery, interpersonal, and collaborative skills, with ability to communicate technological solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong skills in Information and Communications Technology, including coding for automation, systems integration, and high-level computer literacy for accessing information, calculating costs, and outputs.
