Job Overview

The successful candidate will play a key role in the design development of electrical power generation and renewable energy projects.

  • Design Development: Translate conceptual designs into detailed designs, preparing specifications, calculations, and component selection.
  • Power System Studies: Carry out Load Flows, Fault Analysis, Protection Studies, P28 Voltage Flicker, G5/5 Harmonic Assessments, G99 Reactive Power, and Frequency Response Simulations.
  • Sales Support: Assist in sales preparation documents to meet customer timescales and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration with Mechanical Design Engineers: Work closely with Mechanical Design Engineers to ensure alignment on project requirements.
  • Coordination with CAD Draughtsmen: Liaise with CAD draughtsmen for design package production.
  • Project Support: Provide support during installation, commissioning, and testing phases.
  • Client Liaison: Build relationships with existing and potential customers.
  • HAZOP and Risk Assessment: Participate in HAZOP studies and risk assessments.
  • Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Compliance: Ensure adherence to all management policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or HNC/HND with substantial relevant experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in the power generation industry (1-25MW).
  • Knowledge of low and medium voltage power trains, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Strong IT skills (MS Office).
  • Full driving license.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Professional registration.
  • Experience in CHP and power generation.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD draughting package or similar tools.
  • Experience with ETAP power analysis software.
  • Knowledge of HV substation design and National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS).
