Role Overview
The Department of Education is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Coordinator to join our team. This role is an exciting opportunity for a qualified teacher to lead implementations of the Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) initiative.
Mental health and wellbeing are critical components of student success, and as a Mental Health Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in promoting positive mental health outcomes for students, staff, and families.
You will work closely with school staff, community members, and external agencies to identify and support students with mental health concerns. Your expertise in mental health literacy, supporting emerging needs, and building school capacity will be essential in creating clear referral pathways and connecting students to local services.
Key Responsibilities- Build the capacity of school staff to identify and support students with mental health concerns
- Create clear referral pathways and connect students to local services
- Coordinate targeted mental health support for students through collaboration with school staff, community members, and external agencies
- Implement effective mental health strategies aligned with social and emotional learning and adapt a whole-school approach to wellbeing and learning activities
