The Role

This position combines strategic policy development with advanced data analysis capabilities to inform evidence-based decision making and support Victoria's international trade and export objectives.

This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in data visualisation tools, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable policy recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead data analysis projects to deliver evidence-based insights for international policy initiatives and to support decision making within the Trade team.
  • Support policy development for international engagement frameworks and export strategies, conducting research and analysis to advance Victoria's trade priorities.
  • Prepare briefings, policy papers and correspondence on trade in Victoria, ensuring high-quality analysis and recommendations that align with government objectives and support executive decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain data platforms and digital systems to facilitate information sharing, enhance collaborative workflows and improve data accessibility across the trade team.
  • Research emerging trends in global trade and international policy developments to identify opportunities and risks for Victoria's export prospects.
  • Coordinate cross-departmental policy activities to ensure integrated approaches to trade policy, working collaboratively with other branches to align initiatives with broader government priorities.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in policy development and analysis, preferably in international trade, economics, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualisation tools, particularly Excel, Power BI and Powerpoint to deliver research outcomes.
  • Strong collaborative, interpersonal and consultation skills enabling effective engagement across all levels of the organisation.
