Our company is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our Mobile team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about mobile product development and wants to make a meaningful impact in a rapidly growing industry.

About the Role

This position involves developing software for mobile products on the Android Development platform, driving delivery and continuous product improvement, maintaining engineering excellence, and supporting team members in building products together. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate leadership on best practices, be a role model and mentor for other team members, contribute to a cross-functional environment, and make data-driven decisions that release value early to solve customers' problems effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create high-quality and scalable software that meets customer needs and expectations.
  • Design and perform sophisticated testing activities that effectively reveal product quality across a range of risk areas and quality criteria.
  • Efficiently assess causes and identify solutions for development or production issues, and communicate the impact to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to Xero's engineering standards and frameworks, work closely with Lead and Principal Engineers, and apply standards to software and delivery processes.
  • Maintain, grow, and share knowledge of development technologies used in the development of software applications.
  • Champion automation of delivery processes, coach and support engineers to ensure all software runs as expected, and proactively prevent customer-facing problems.
  • Be a proactive champion of agile and delivery practices, coach and develop others in this space, and ensure a consistent approach to ways of working.
What You'll Bring
  • Critical competencies and experience in strong TDD and automated tooling, proficient CI/CD concepts and tooling, major code design decisions for individual products, expertise in Android Studio IDE, high coding standards and an emphasis on testing, experience in developing secure, performant, and scalable software, experience with agile methodologies, and knowledge and experience working with MVVM and clean architecture patterns.
