SANE is committed to providing high-quality support services to individuals affected by complex mental health issues. As a Social and Emotional Wellbeing Counsellor, you will play a critical role in delivering culturally safe and responsive services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Key Responsibilities- Provide trauma-informed, person-centered, and holistic support to individuals impacted by complex mental health issues, complex trauma, and psychological distress.
- Deliver single-session counselling support via phone and webchat to individuals accessing SANE's Support Line.
- Provide telephone-based multi-session counselling guided by individualized Recovery Plans for participants of SANE's Guided Recovery Service.
- Utilize evidence-based interventions to promote mental health recovery and improve social emotional wellbeing.
- Provide group facilitation and support the development and evaluation of SANE group programs.
- Consistently display and promote high-level commitment, integrity, and diligence in all aspects of work and decision-making.
- Maintain a safe working environment for yourself, your colleagues, and members of the public.
- Registration with one of the following professional bodies: AHPRA-Psychology, PACFA–minimum provisional working toward full registration, ACA-minimum level 2, AASW/AMHSW–Full membership.
- Tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, counselling.
- A minimum of two years relevant mental health/SEWB work experience post qualification.
- Extensive experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and/or communities.
- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
