Counsellor/Social Worker Job Description

The Counsellor/Social Worker will provide essential counselling services to a diverse range of clients dealing with various psychosocial issues, including mental health conditions, addictions, eating disorders, grief and trauma, anger management, family and domestic violence, and financial stressors.

This role involves conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments, delivering targeted interventions, and coordinating care to enhance the overall well-being of clients. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a compassionate approach and a strong commitment to supporting individuals in navigating their challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify client needs and develop effective intervention plans.
  • Deliver targeted interventions, including individual and group counselling sessions, to support clients in achieving their goals.
  • Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals and community services to ensure seamless support for clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, families, and community stakeholders to promote a culture of inclusivity and respect.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in counselling and social work, and apply this knowledge to improve client outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Ongoing full accreditation under a national counselling registration board.
  • Minimum 2 years full-time counselling experience, preferably working with diverse populations facing various psychosocial issues.
  • Tertiary qualification in counselling modalities and techniques applicable to mental health, addictions, trauma, and family dynamics.
  • Proficiency in therapeutic modalities and techniques applicable to mental health, addictions, trauma, and family dynamics.
  • Knowledge and experience in providing culturally appropriate care.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple cases effectively.
