Job Overview

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is a strategic role responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the infrastructure that supports digital services. They will provide expert technical guidance on ICT platforms and collaborate with key suppliers to ensure a robust gateway infrastructure capability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and evaluate infrastructure requirements to meet future demands.
  • Provide technical support for project builds, tests and solution deployments.
  • Prepare, review and maintain documentation including design documents, implementation plans and test plans.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies, operational policies and procedures.
  • Participate in change management processes and communicate implications of configuration changes.
  • Offer specialist technical advice to senior executives.
  • Mentor colleagues and share knowledge.
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend suitable products.
  • Engage with other agencies and service providers to build delivery capabilities.
  • Attend interagency meetings and forums to influence outcomes.
Essential Qualifications:
  1. At least five years' experience in designing, managing and maintaining internet gateways and/or large-scale data centre networking environments.
Desirable Skills:
  1. Demonstrated experience with F5/Blue Coat Layer 4-7 switching/load balancing and proxy systems.
  2. Expertise in Cisco Data Centre technologies, including ACI, routers and Nexus switches, and routing protocols like BGP, OSPF and EIGRP.
  3. Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and IPS solutions, VPN technologies, email and DNS solutions.
  4. Knowledge of hybrid and public cloud services and system architecture.
  5. Awareness of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual and Essential Eight.
