Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the environment?

Join a dedicated team focused on safeguarding the state's natural resources and heritage. We are seeking engineers who are committed to providing innovative solutions to the challenges of energy transition, contributing to a sustainable energy future through a permanent full-time position.

Location is flexible within NSW, with hybrid working options available.

As an Engineer Grade 6, your salary will be commensurate with experience, ranging from $153,176 to $156,464 plus superannuation.

Position Overview

The Technical Advisory Services team is looking for a Senior Power System Analysis Engineer to lead a group of specialists in power system modelling. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective integration of Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) infrastructure, thereby guaranteeing a reliable energy supply for consumers through advanced modelling techniques. In addition to overseeing technical operations, you will manage the expertise in power systems modelling and contribute to the strategic development of the team. This senior role presents an exciting opportunity to influence the future of renewable energy integration and play a significant role in the sustainable energy sector.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong skills in power system planning and analysis, utilizing software such as PSS/E, PowerFactory, and PSCAD. Experience in leading the technical integration of REZ infrastructure, including designing cost-effective network solutions and enhancing system strength, is essential. Proficiency in collaborative planning for shared transmission infrastructure and conducting power system modelling and analysis is vital for optimizing REZ components. Furthermore, candidates should exhibit the capability to perform technical due diligence, improve power system assessments through tool development, and guide the team in creating design specifications for new assets. Collaboration with network planning teams and industry experts is a key aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Formulating and executing strategic solutions that align with REZ program goals.
  2. Encouraging technical innovation in the integration of renewable energy.
  3. Maximizing investment outcomes through effective analysis.

Successful candidates will need to engage with industry professionals, leverage relationships, and conduct thorough power system analyses to achieve coordinated technical solutions. Responsibilities include conducting power system analysis, ensuring alignment with overarching energy objectives, and escalating critical issues to senior management. Reporting directly to the Director of Power Systems, you will manage a team of up to two engineers. Candidates with experience in technical advisory roles, a solid understanding of policy and commercial considerations, and knowledge of renewable energy integration will find this position both challenging and fulfilling.

A valid driver's license and working rights in Australia are essential for this role.
