We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Policy Officer/Assistant Director to join our Closing the Gap team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving a strategic approach for the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and leading new policy development.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement policies and programs to address the Closing the Gap agenda
- Lead and manage a team of policy officers to achieve key outcomes
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and Indigenous leaders
- Provide high-level secretariat functions for committees and working groups related to the National Agreement
- Proven experience in policy development and implementation, particularly in Indigenous affairs
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to work in a culturally sensitive and respectful manner, with a strong understanding of Indigenous cultures and histories
