Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Policy Officer/Assistant Director to join our Closing the Gap team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving a strategic approach for the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and leading new policy development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policies and programs to address the Closing the Gap agenda
  • Lead and manage a team of policy officers to achieve key outcomes
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and Indigenous leaders
  • Provide high-level secretariat functions for committees and working groups related to the National Agreement
Requirements
  • Proven experience in policy development and implementation, particularly in Indigenous affairs
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a culturally sensitive and respectful manner, with a strong understanding of Indigenous cultures and histories
