Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the annual performance appraisal cycle, including coaching managers through effective goal-setting and development planning.
  • Interpret and advise managers on enterprise agreements, industrial instruments, and labor legislation to ensure compliance and effective management of employee relations.
  • Negotiate and implement enterprise agreements, maintaining a collaborative approach and ensuring all legislative requirements are met.
  • Assist with the preparation and administration of representation in commissions and tribunals, as required.
  • Advise and lead managers through employee disciplinary processes, including performance management and terminations, ensuring fair and thorough procedures are followed.
  • Prepare formal letters and notices in relation to addressing grievances and performance issues, maintaining a professional and respectful tone.
  • Respond to internal complaints in a prompt, fair, and thorough manner, conducting internal investigations and providing advice to managers.
  • Assist managers in managing high absenteeism, misconduct, and breaches of company policy, employment contract, or legislation.
  • Plan and conduct exit interviews to gather valuable feedback and insights.
  • Assist with the recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring a smooth transition for new employees.
Requirements
  • Exposure to industrial relations and HR management, with a strong understanding of labor legislation and enterprise agreements.
  • Qualifications in human resources, compliance, or a related field are advantageous.
  • Experience dealing with multiple hiring managers and managing union relationships, handling industrial disputes, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, and ensuring compliance with labor legislation.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities, with effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Previous professional experience as a HR generalist, with a strong understanding of industrial relations and employee relations.
  • Experience with managing IR/ER matters, including grievance procedures and disciplinary processes.
  • Strong people agility and sound knowledge of the Fair Work Act.
  • Professional experience in a unionized workplace, with knowledge of enterprise agreements and award-governed employment.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
