The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Geologist to join our Geoscience team in Technical Services. As a Geologist, you will work closely with our Short-Term Planning, Mid-Term Planning, Mining, CHPP & Logistics teams to deliver safe, valuable, and efficient outcomes across the operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze geological data to inform future plans and improve operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a regular presence in the pit and provide direction to the operation.
  • Provide feedback and information to maintain on-plan, on-spec, and high-volume coal throughput.
  • Perform geotechnical support and administration, overseen by the Geotechnical Engineer.
  • Work with a range of software to review existing information and collect new data, building on databases relevant to mine designs, coal quality, recovery, and geotechnical requirements.
Requirements
  • A degree in Geology is essential.
  • A driver's licence is required.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
  • Open Cut Coal mining geology experience, preferably in the Hunter Valley or multi-seam mining.
  • Geotechnical monitoring, geotechnical testing, and investigations experience.
  • Coal mining or coal planning experience.
  • Exploration geology or exploration supervision experience.
  • Experience with coal quality and understanding of its importance.
