Natural Perils Pricing Role Overview

Suncorp Group is seeking a skilled Risk Pricing Analyst to join our team on a 12-month contract. This role is open to applicants based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pricing Model Development: Build and implement individual address and catastrophe natural peril pricing models such as cyclone, bushfire, earthquake, flood, hail, storm, demand surge & underinsurance.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize data science, environmental scientific research, insurance claim experience, and external expertise to develop the above natural peril models.
  • Model Effectiveness Tracking: Formally track the effectiveness of price changes performed.
  • Pricing Impact Analysis: Understand impacts of pricing changes such as; premium change impacts on new business, renewal, lapse, cancellation rates, concentration risk, and reinsurance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Respond to and engage with multiple functions of the business to share pricing knowledge and provide information around natural peril risk and claims experience.
  • Business Case Development: Understand, formulate, and prepare portfolio business case impact analysis and recommendations for key business stakeholders.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Academic Background: Desirable academic backgrounds include actuarial studies, data science, climate science, and other analytics backgrounds.
  • Strong Academic Track Record: Strong academic achievements are essential.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills are required.
  • Programming Skills: Basic exposure to programming such as SAS, Python, R, Excel, and relational databases.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Project Management: Strong project and time management abilities.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to break complex problems down into simplified components.
