Procurement Expert Role

This key position is focused on ensuring that our business maintains a strong compliance record and stays within risk parameters when it comes to onboarding and managing third-party relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the business in selecting, procuring, and onboarding new suppliers and distribution partners while adhering to procurement policies, processes, and third-party management frameworks.
  • Develop and execute an annual calendar of third-party management activities, including contract updates, risk assessments, due diligence, and governance activities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between third-party vendors and business service owners to ensure awareness and communication of changes, updates, and relevant planning activities.
  • Coordinate, participate in, and implement updates or activities required for regulatory, policy, or business changes in the business banking sector.
  • Design and conduct contract audits and supplier controls, overseeing performance where necessary against SLAs to drive business value.
  • Act as a key contact point for business continuity activities across business banking, working with experts in business continuity management and technology risk teams to ensure resilient business services across third- and fourth-party relationships.
  • Report, analyze, and provide insights on supplier and distribution party usage, value, and compliance – including liaising to manage any events, issues, complaints, or related risk activities.
  • Maintain documentation, contracts, and evidence associated with third-party management to support audits and control testing activities.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years' experience in a banking or financial services role or a related industry (e.g., supplier to industry).
  • Experience working in an agile environment, with a good understanding of third-party risk, procurement, and business continuity processes.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance regimes relevant to third-party suppliers and distribution partners in the financial services sector (AML/KYC, Privacy, Design & Distribution Obligations, Banking Code of Practice, CPS230, DORA, Unfair Contract Terms, Modern Slavery).
  • Sound understanding of operational risk processes – including risk assessment, issue, and event management, control testing.
  • Natural curiosity and strong problem-solving skills to identify root causes and find solutions to address process and control deficiencies, prevent customer impact, and remediate where necessary.
  • Data fluency, attention to detail, and a passion for deriving insight from data and supporting management decisions through reporting and insights.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, able to liaison with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Initiative and drive to identify potential problems and motivate peers to collaborate to deliver better customer outcomes.
