Job Description

As a Transmission Planner, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy storage and grid reliability. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise and contribute to the development of innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing and reviewing generator performance standards to ensure compliance with industry norms and system reliability.
  • Power system modelling and tuning, aligned with national electricity rules and system requirements.
  • Technical assessments of generator behaviour under different system conditions.
  • Coordinating commissioning programs to validate real-world performance against modelled expectations.
  • Collaborating with equipment manufacturers on specifications, cables, transformers, switchgear, and more.
  • Leading planning initiatives, managing timelines, and working across teams.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering recognised for membership of Engineers Australia.
  • Extensive knowledge of transmission, sub-transmission, and distribution networks.
  • Strong understanding of national electricity rules with a specific emphasis on generator performance standards.
  • Proven expertise in power systems engineering where a deep understanding of generator technologies, grid dynamics, system reliability, equipment specification, and power system design are required.
  • Analytical and modelling capabilities with high proficiency in PSSE, PSCAD, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory software.
  • Proficient in conducting harmonic analysis to evaluate generator impacts on network power quality and ensure compliance.
  • Experience with technical writing and ability to draft clear documentation and reports for generator performance assessments.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of past planning standards relating to transmission and sub-transmission networks with application to large-scale generation.
  • Experience relating to planning, asset utilisation, risk management, network analysis, network performance, protection policies, and extensive knowledge of transmission, sub-transmission, and distribution networks.
