Software Engineering Role

We are seeking skilled professionals with expertise in Python, Packaging and Linux skills to contribute to our mission.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Python, a deep understanding of the makeup of a modern GNU/Linux distribution, and experience working with container technology such as Docker, Kubernetes and LXD. They will also leverage their familiarity with languages, toolchains, frameworks, integrations, and CI systems to enhance the snap build ecosystem.

  • Design and maintain specialized tools to support the developer build and publication process.
  • Take responsibility for tooling that builds snaps, charms, and rocks.

Our goal is to simplify the lives of developers and engineers trying to ship software to a wide audience. Our team works on tools like Snapcraft, Charmcraft, and Rockcraft, which enable thousands of applications from over a thousand developers to deliver app updates to millions of Linux systems automatically.

Requirements:
  • Expertise in Python.
  • Strong understanding of the makeup of a modern GNU/Linux distribution.
  • Good understanding of build systems and toolchains, including for cross-compilation.
  • Experience working with container technology, such as Docker, Kubernetes and LXD.
  • Familiarity with languages, toolchains, frameworks, integrations, and CI systems.
