Senior Commercial Advisor

About this role

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Senior Commercial Officer in our company. As part of our Commercial group, you will be working closely with various Commercial Managers and will provide high quality commercial assistance on a diverse range of corporate and commercial projects in both the defence and civil solutions sectors.

Your key responsibilities will include undertaking contractual administration of projects to maximise commercial outcomes of the contract, preparing survey and quotes, contract change proposals, escalation claims, extensions of time, payments, instructions, and export control matters, drafting a range of commercial documents to facilitate project outcomes, liaising with internal stakeholders on the review and approval of agreements and contracts, assisting Commercial Managers with negotiations with customers relating to contractual issues, teaming arrangements, licensing arrangements and confidentiality agreements to ensure commercial integrity, providing commercial advice to project and tender teams ensuring that key commercial, legal, and contractual issues are dealt with in an effective and efficient manner, and liaising with the Procurement team on flow-down commercial requirements for subcontracts and purchase orders.

You will also be proactive in commercial and contractual matters including the preparation of Request for Tender, subcontracts, statements of compliances and other tender response documentation.

This is a Full Time 2-year Contract, the position is open in SA or VIC, preference would be in SA. Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9 days will be considered for this role post probation and subsequent discussion with your manager.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need to have demonstrated experience in a commercial role, good working knowledge of commercial and contractual administrative processes and techniques, a sound understanding of principles of contract law, experience in a commercial environment including contract preparation, negotiation, administration, and management of contractual relationships, tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline (e.g., Law, Business or Commerce), self-awareness and commitment to personal development, leading by example, utilising a collaborative, accountable, and innovative approach to deliver results, staying relevant in their expertise, adapting proactively to changing needs, effectively managing time, deadlines, and competing demands through influential communication skills, and ability to work under pressure when required but able to balance performance and wellbeing.

As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants applying should be Australian Citizens and will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to baseline/NV1/NV2 level or have the ability to gain one.
