Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Principal to join our team at Westgrove Primary School. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in supporting the Principal in the management of the school's education program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of senior curriculum or level coordinators
  • Allocate budgets, positions of responsibility, and other resources within the area of responsibility
  • Supervise the delivery of teaching programs
  • Manage programs to improve the knowledge and experience of staff
  • Responsibility for general discipline matters beyond the management of classroom teachers and year level coordinators
  • Contribute to the overall management of the school
  • Lead and facilitate coaching programs
  • Oversee the implementation of whole school curriculum programs
  • Ensure Teaching & Learning guidelines and Instructional Model are documented and embedded in practice
  • Lead Learning Annual Implementation Plan goal
  • Lead Curriculum Priority Team
  • Lead the work of the Learning Specialists
  • Lead intervention & extension programs (e.g. TLI, EAL, VHAP)
  • Oversee child safety standards
  • Co-lead ES (Classroom) team
  • Lead Tier 3 Attendance Improvement Meetings for relevant sub-school
  • Lead IEP development and monitoring (DI, Oo HC & Koorie) for relevant sub-school
  • Manage referral pathways, SSGs & DIPs for relevant sub-school
  • Student management
  • PDPs
Whole School Operations
  • Daily organisation
  • Forward planning (excursions, swimming, sport, whole school events)
  • K-P or 6-7 Transition
  • Oversee Emergency Management
  • Document management
  • Oversee enrolment and student transfers for relevant sub-school
  • Student Support Group Meeting facilitation
  • Staff induction
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Educational leadership skills, including the leadership of others in the process of change
  • Financial, managerial, and administrative ability
  • Planning, policy, and program development and review skills
  • Leadership of staff and students
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • School-specific criteria, including the ability to collaboratively lead whole school initiatives and drive continuous improvement across the school
