Job Overview:
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for thermal disinfection, functionality checks/inspection, packaging and sterilisation of all instrumentation for theatres and clinical areas.

The ideal candidate will comply with AS 5369:2023 standards, Infection Control policy, GENCA guidelines and other statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate, monitor, interpret and document equipment reprocessing requirements.
  • Report and document quality activities.
  • Prioritise instrumentation and processes.
  • Maintain the Sterile Supply Department area and equipment in accordance with Standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and risk management activities.
  • Assist with managing general stock.

Northern Beaches Hospital is a fully licensed private hospital, providing care to public and private patients from an outstanding facility with a large range of quality services provided by exceptional nurses, doctors and staff.

The Sterile Supply Department contains state-of-the-art equipment and provides a contemporary sterile processing service for surgical equipment.

The department operates from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM Monday to Fridays and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekends and public holidays, with potential for 24/7 operations as demand increases.

Requirements:
  • Experience in sterilisation processing within a healthcare environment.
  • Sterilisation Service Certificate III or working towards completion of the course.
  • Knowledge and understanding of AS 5369:2023.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of electronic tracking systems.
  • A track record of prioritising workload demands.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team as well as independently.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manual handling principles and techniques and ability to perform manual handling activities.
  • Commitment to delivering customer service in a healthcare setting.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility in rostering.
