Seeking a skilled professional to lead Work Health and Safety initiatives within the Transperth Train Operations division. This role involves developing comprehensive safety strategies, implementing health and safety requirements, and providing specialist advice to stakeholders.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity that requires strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement divisional implementation strategies for WHS systems
  • Monitor and review workplace health and safety requirements, including compliance with legal and internal policies
  • Provide specialist advice to relevant stakeholders on WHS matters
  • Design and deliver training sessions to increase awareness of WHS requirements and obligations
  • Identify, assess, and manage WHS hazards and issues within Transperth Train Operations
  • Oversee division activities and WHS Committee meetings, providing guidance and direction
  • Support workplace consultation, safe work practices, and contribute to WHS policy and procedure development
  • Supervise direct reports, provide task allocation, oversight, and facilitation of professional development opportunities

Requirements include:

  • Implementation experience in WHS programs and projects, preferably in rail or complex operational environments
  • Experience supporting injured employees and facilitating their return to duty for work and non-work-related injuries
  • Ability to undertake safety investigations and provide written reports detailing recommended corrective actions
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving ability with effective communication skills
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of WHS issues and trends, proven ability to interpret and apply legislation and standards when providing advice
  • Leadership skills to support team members, ensure performance management, and foster professional development
  • Hold relevant safety qualification, ideally in rail safety
