Overview of the Director Right To Information And Privacy Role

About This Job

This senior leadership position oversees strategic direction and management of RTI applications for government departments and portfolio bodies.

The role drives the department's ongoing implementation of changes introduced by legislation, providing expert advice on RTI and IP obligations.

The successful candidate will have strong judgement skills, a deep understanding of how government works, and expertise in RTI and IP legislation and case law.

  • Leadership and Expertise: Provide strategic leadership and expert advice on RTI and IP obligations.
  • Privacy Management: Oversee the department's privacy activities, including complaints and reported breaches.
  • Legislative Implementation: Drive the department's ongoing implementation of changes introduced by the Information Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2023.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure effective management of RTI applications.
  • Provide guidance on RTI and IP legislation and case law to inform departmental decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate records of RTI and IP complaints and breaches.
