We're seeking a highly skilled data professional to join our Technology team and drive our data engineering strategy and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading and scaling data engineering teams, and will be able to shape and execute a data roadmap that balances innovation with operational excellence.

The key responsibilities include:

  1. Defining and executing VGW's data engineering strategy, aligning with company objectives to deliver high-quality, reliable data.
  2. Leading the data engineering team by setting technical standards, fostering a culture of innovation, and mentoring team members for growth and success.
  3. Shaping and overseeing the development of data architecture, governance policies, and technical frameworks, ensuring compliance with data security and regulatory requirements.
  4. Driving the adoption of data engineering best practices, policies, and controls across the organisation to maintain consistency and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  1. Proven experience leading and scaling data engineering teams, fostering a high-performance culture, and driving strategic initiatives to enhance data capabilities.

Deep expertise in architecting and optimising cloud-based data platforms, including data governance, security best practices, and cost management.

Strong ability to design and implement scalable data architectures, leveraging modern data engineering principles such as data mesh, event-driven processing, and real-time data streaming.Advanced data engineering and analytics expertise, with hands-on experience in ETL/ELT pipelines, distributed computing, and automation of data workflows.A strategic mindset with the ability to shape and execute a data roadmap, balancing innovation with operational excellence in data quality, reliability, and governance.A passion for fostering cross-functional collaboration, driving knowledge sharing, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
